Cookie Policy

Last updated: October 2026

How OfficeKit uses browser cookies and local storage to provide functional productivity tools.

No Analytics or Advertising Trackers

OfficeKit uses only functional browser storage strictly necessary for authenticated user sessions, dark/light theme persistence, and local guest draft saving. We do not load advertising networks, behavioral profiling cookies, or third-party web trackers.

1. Overview of Browser Storage Technologies

This Cookie Policy explains how OfficeKit uses cookies and browser storage technologies (such as localStorage and sessionStorage) when you visit our site.

Our primary technical architecture prioritizes client-side operation, minimizing unnecessary tracking and data storage.

2. Cookies in OfficeKit

Cookies are small text files placed on your device by websites. In OfficeKit:

Authentication Session Cookies: When you log in, secure session cookies manage your authenticated session with our backend service (Supabase Auth). These are strictly necessary for authenticated platform features.

3. Local Storage (localStorage)

Local storage allows web applications to store key-value data directly in your browser with no automatic transmission to the server. OfficeKit uses local storage for the following specific purposes:

  • Theme Preference (officekit-theme): Stores your dark mode or light mode selection so your display preference persists across page loads.
  • Guest Signatures (officekit_guest_signatures): Stores email signature configurations locally on your machine for unauthenticated guest users so you do not lose your draft.
  • Guest Quota Tracking (officekit_guest_count): Locally tracks the number of signatures created in guest mode to manage draft migration prompts.

4. Session Storage (sessionStorage)

Session storage operates similarly to local storage but is cleared as soon as your browser tab is closed. OfficeKit may utilize temporary session storage for transient UI state during active editing sessions.

5. Functional Storage vs. Tracking

All local browser storage used by OfficeKit is strictly functional. It exists solely to provide you with the tools, interfaces, and preferences you request.

6. Analytics Cookies (Currently Not Used)

OfficeKit currently does NOT use analytics cookies, third-party web trackers, or behavioral profiling tools (such as Google Analytics or Hotjar).

If analytics are considered in future platform updates to monitor system performance, this policy will be updated with explicit notice.

7. Advertising Cookies (Currently Not Used)

OfficeKit does NOT use advertising cookies, remarketing pixels, or third-party advertising networks.

8. How to Control Browser Storage

You can control and delete cookies and local storage through your browser settings. Most browsers allow you to block cookies, delete existing stored data, or notify you when storage is requested.

Please note that clearing local storage will erase saved guest signature drafts and reset your theme preference to the system default.

9. Questions About Browser Storage

If you have questions about how OfficeKit utilizes browser storage, please submit an inquiry through our Contact Us page (/contact).
